    The Buttocks are the whole bum cheek region and the Behind is the anus area.

  • What are the side effects from Laser Hair Removal?

    Temporary side effects may include: redness, itchy skin, mild follicle swelling, irritation on treatment areas. All of which are normal post Laser Hair Removal treatment. It is important to follow the correct prep and aftercare to receive maximum results with minimal side effects to the treatment.

  • Will all the treated hair be removed in one session?

    No, each Laser Hair Removal treatment provides a 10%-15% hair reduction. It's important to complete the initial course of 10 treatments and at consistent intervals for optimal results. We recommend a series of 8-10 treatments done at monthly intervals and maintenance treatments every 2-3 months for permanent hair reduction. You can choose to extend the intervals if you prefer to have a minimal reduction.

  • Can I still get Laser Hair Removal if I am pregnant?

    Based on current medical advice, we are unable to perform laser hair removal during the first trimester of pregnancy. We advise clients in the second or third trimester of pregnancy, to obtain mandatory medical clearance prior to proceeding with treatment.

  • What is included in a Brazilian?

    The Brazilian includes the full-frontal pubic area and bikini line except for the anus area.

  • What Laser Hair Removal machines do you use?

  • Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

    One of the benefits of Laser Hair Removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than a second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. We use an advanced cooling machine in conjunction with our laser device to reduce the heat sensation on the skin and minimise any discomfort. 

  • Do you offer numbing for Laser Hair Removal?

    Unfortunately, topical numbing creams are not safe nor effective when doing Laser Hair Removal. The sensation you feel in treatment is not felt on the skin, but in the follicle of the hair. Unfortunately numbing cream cannot penetrate deep enough to minimise the discomfort that may be felt at the follicle. Please ensure that no occlusive creams are present in the treatment areas when undergoing laser hair removal treatments.

  • What is the minimum age for Laser Hair Removal?

    At Laser Clinics New Zealand, we recommend that Laser Hair Removal clients undergoing Laser Hair Removal treatments are 18 years or older. This ensures optimal treatment results. Prior to the age of 18 years, hair growth has not fully developed due to changing hormonal levels.

    In certain instances, we can provide Laser Hair Removal treatments to clients 12 years and over. However, for clients 18 years and under, a parent or guardian is required at the clinic for your first treatment. Your parent or guardian is required to sign a consent form and be present in the consultation to ensure they understand the procedure and aftercare. Note, it is optional for parents and guardians to be in the treatment room for the first treatment.

  • Can I have Laser Hair Removal if I am on certain medications?

    Certain medications can cause photo-sensitivity to the skin and this may affect the skin's reaction to the treatment. These medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A's, antibiotics, and certain anti-depressants. It is best to speak with your medical professional and obtain medical clearance. After obtaining medical clearance, we are able to test-patch you with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment. 

  • Can I get Laser Hair Removal if I have Epilepsy?

    Epilepsy sufferers are advised to consult with their doctor about having Laser Hair Removal. An individual will need to obtain medical clearance from their doctor prior to starting treatment. At Laser Clinics New Zealand, we also offer various options of protective eyewear to ensure your safety at all times during treatment.  

  • What is the aftercare for Laser Hair Removal treatments?

    For 24 -48 hours after the treatment, please avoid excessive sweating, hot showers, shaving, waxing, and plucking the treatment area. For the next 5 days after the treatment, please liberally apply Skinstitut® Laser Aid both morning and evening or as many times as your skin feels sensitive. This will help minimise the heat sensation felt on the skin and reinfuse all the vitamins and natural oils the skin requires after the treatment.

    After 5 days, we recommend you to exfoliate the treatment area with the Skinstitut® Glycolic 14% scrub to be used 2 to 3 times weekly. This will ensure the hair falls out evenly after the treatment. You will need to ensure all treatment areas are not exposed to direct sunlight for 14 days and apply SPF liberally every day.

  • Do hair supplements affect my treatment results?

    Yes - hair supplements can affect your treatment progress as they can stimulate hair growth. We recommend to not consume hair supplements during the treatment course.

  • Can I split Full Body treatments into separate areas across multiple appointments?

    No, our Full Body treatments can only be done at the same appointment. You can choose not to treat specific areas however there is no price reduction with the treatment package.

  • Can I have my treatment when I am menstruating?

    Yes - you can still have laser hair removal treatment while on your period. We advise you to wear a tampon or menstrual cup if you would like to have the Brazilian area treated.

  • Can I still get Laser Hair Removal if I am on birth control?

    Yes - our Laser Hair Removal treatment is safe for individuals on birth control including oral contraceptive pills and IUD.

  • What does the Beard Sculpting include?

    Our Beard Sculpting treatment includes the beard line and may include the cheek and underneath the jawline depending on how far the beard extends to.

  • Can I have Laser Hair Removal over the top of tattoos?

    No, unfortunately we cannot treat over tattoos with our laser. We can treat around the tattooed areas with a gap of 3cm.

  • How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal?

    Depending on the hair, skin type, and body area being treated, you will require treatments at 4-6 weeks intervals. For the facial area, treatments should be done in 2-week intervals unless recommended otherwise.

    Each part of the facial and body area has a different growing cycle, so hair reduction will vary depending on what stage your follicles are in at the time of the treatment. After each treatment hair is reduced hence it is important to complete the entire recommended course of treatments and at consistent intervals for best results. We recommend a series of 10-12 treatments and maintenance treatments every 2-3 months for permanent hair reduction.

  • What skin tones can get laser hair removal?

    At Laser Clinics we treat all skin tones with our medical grade Lasers. Our Laser technicians use the Fitzpatrick Classification scale to determine your skin tone at consultation and select the most suitable setting for your laser hair removal treatment. Please be advised that your settings may change throughout your course to ensure optimal results.

    Your laser technician will assess your skin at each consultation and treat you using the most appropriate settings for your skin type and recent results. Your settings will change throughout the course of your laser hair removal treatments to ensure optimal results.  

  • What is included in a Full Body Laser Hair Removal treatment?

    The Full Body treatment includes the whole facial and body area except the head, around the eyes and eyebrow area.

  • What body hair colour can be treated with Laser Hair Removal?

    Unfortunately, we can not treat blonde, grey/white and some types of red hair with our Laser Hair Removal treatment. The light of the laser is only attracted to the melanin (pigment) of the hair hence these hair colours cannot be treated.

  • How long should I go in between Laser Hair Removal appointments?

    Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals.

    Each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.

  • What do I need to do to prepare for my Laser Hair Removal appointment?
    • Shave treatment area at least 12-24 hours prior to your treatment
    • Avoid chemical peels or laser resurfacing treatments at least 4 weeks before your treatment
    • Exfoliate the treatment area at least 3 days before your treatment
    • Ensure all fake tan is removed and there is no residual fake tan present on the skin 24 hours before your treatment.
    • Allow 4 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had direct sun exposure. (Any kind of tanning or active sunbathing, with or without SPF). Allow 2 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had incidental sun exposure  (stayed in the shade for the majority of the time during sunny periods, with or without SPF on).

    • Avoid using topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, colognes or perfumes to the area being treated 24 hours prior to treatment.
    • Do not wax, use depilatory creams or pluck hairs four weeks prior to laser treatment
